Book Review: Ender's Shadow

Title: Ender’s Shadow

Name and describe the setting: In space during a war with a bug-like alien species (the Buggers) that attacked Earth a hundred or so years ago.

Name and describe the main characters: 

Bean/Julian: He was stolen as an egg clone and grew up on the streets of Rotterdam and joined a gang. It was found that he was super smart, and he was taken afterwards into space to learn how to fight the Buggers to save Earth with other super smart kids.

Ender Wiggin is also a super smart kid from a well-off family taken into space to learn to fight the Buggers.  He becomes the main commander of the fleet that fights the Buggers.  He is friends with Bean.  

Give a summary of the main plot. What happened and why?  Bean was taken into space because he was very smart. His DNA was altered when he was stolen. Who knows why? Bean became a commander to part of the fleet that destroyed all the Buggers because he was a good commander with good ideas. Also he was the the right-hand man of the main commander, Ender Wiggin.

 

What did you like best about the book and why? It is a fun story in space with good battles.

 

What did you like the least about the book and why? It gets very boring at times when there is no action.

 

Would you recommend this book to a friend to read?  Why or why not? Yes If you’ve read Ender's Game, Ender’s Shadow is a great book to read because it shows you the same story from a different perspective. Ender's Game is the story written from Ender's perspective, and Ender's Shadow is written from Bean's perspective. You will want to read this book after Ender's Game.
