Something About Light

First of all I am going to answer some questions from your comments. 

1. How many stomachs does a cow have?

Second: candy experiments but with light. First pour vegetable oil in a glass. Then pour water in the glass after putting a twizzler in the glass. Look around the glass from different angles. You might see the twizzler bend or disappear because of the difference of the refractive index between air, water, and oil. My idea was to try different oils to see if there was a difference.  We tried olive oil and corn oil, but i think vegetable oil works the best. They were all similar. 

The twizzler looks split between the air and oil.  

The twizzler disappeared in the oil and reappeared in the water layer.

Fact: Oil bends light more than water. Oil has a higher refractive index than water.

       

Science word: Refractive index measures how much a substance will bend light. 

Fun fact about today: I made a perfect molten smore for my Grandpa and instead of hershey's I used kit-kats ,and the marshmallow was  strawberry flavored. My Grandpa said it tasted “different”.
