Making a Mini Desert

Today we planted a mini desert because I wanted a cactus garden. 

We started by putting a germination disk into a small glass terrarium and pouring in 3/4 cup water. 

The germination disk inflated by absorbing the water.  It looked like it was alive!  

Then I pushed in down using my hands and then added the cacti seeds.  The seeds are really tiny!!!!! 

Then we put a layer of sand on the top.  

We sprayed the top of the sand with water with a water gun since we did not have a spray bottle (thanks Grandma Dixie for bringing the water guns to Arizona and leaving them in our house).  

We then covered the terrarium with plastic wrap to create a tiny greenhouse for the seeds to grow.  Stay tuned!  Hopefully we will have mini cacti soon!!!!
