Hot Air Balloon Project Phase 3: WE HAVE LIFTOFF!!

Describe how a hot air balloon works.
Cold air shrinks the balloon, but hot air inflates it and lifts it up. The hot air inside the balloon bounces around making the balloon go up.

Describe what you did today.
We launched the tissue hot air balloon up into the air and ripped it several times. #I hate wind.

What worked well with this experiment?
The balloon actually went up today.  We tried yesterday, but the burner broke.

What did not go so well?
The balloon kept ripping so much in the wind, the ground, and when we tried to patch it. My brother did not measure the altitude with the protractor since the balloon did not go straight up.

What might you try differently for a future experiment?
Find a more durable material for the balloon like stronger paper, a plastic bag, or thin cloth.  There may be a better material than glue for patching holes.  It was difficult to patch holes once the balloon was inflated.  It would be good to have a colder day or a location with less wind for the balloon to go up straight and higher.

What did you like best about working on the hot air balloon project?
Working with my family.
