| Oreo cookie moon model |
I made a moon phase model with my family by using a lamp as the sun and a globe as the Earth. We also stuck a screwdriver into a tennis ball to represent the moon. We went around the earth with the tennis ball (like the moon’s orbit) and saw how the moon phases changed depending on the light of the sun observed from Arizona on the globe. I used a spoon to scoop out the white stuff in the Oreo cookies to make a pictures of the moon phases that we saw. We wanted to do this because it was a science project from Lowell Observatory, and it is the week of the Supermoon. I learned that the moon phases are different. Here are all the moon phases in order: Full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, waning crescent, new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, and waxing gibbous. Our model tasted delicious!
